If you are planning a visit to Bangkok, and you want to bring back a great memory of a dining adventure, you come Here .

In my 13 months of tracking down good eats, Here Hai ranks in my Top 3. It is about 1 km away from BTS Ekkamai and Google map will lead you to this rather nondescript shop selling fish ball noodles. Follow the throng of people walking to the back of the shop and take the narrow staircase up. Small lot with only about 8 tables, it’s perpetually crowded but well run by a group of efficient uniformed young staff. You will soon be approached by an English speaking girl who will ask for your mobile number and tell you the approximate time to come back. ( in our case on a Saturday afternoon at 1.40 pm, it was 30 minutes ) We spotted a cafe just across the street and hopped over there to wait. It turned out to be fabulous and an experience by itself !

Our phone call came when we were both properly hungry and we were soon at our table. And that plate of rice came. (340 Baht) Prepared with extreme high heat, strong arms and seafood from the Surat Thani region, it went straight up to be my #1 best crab fried rice.

…and the cabbage with lardons. (80 Baht) Slightly charred on the outside bringing out the natural sweetness. Another #1

A new addition on their menu that we could not resist was this rice served with crab and basil with nuggets of roe on top. I would come here just for this!

Other specialties include mantis prawns, and a yellow crab curry that looked divine. Must come back. Definitely.
